Drivers of deforestation and forest degradation in
West Africa

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are collaborating on a new 5-year project: Global Transformation of Forests for People and Climate: a focus on West Africa.  One of the project’s objectives is to strengthen decision-making on forests and land management across West Africa by improving knowledge of forest dynamics and drivers of forest change.  While the project team works on building a formal, Regional Knowledge Portal for the project, the temporary site aims to facilitate collaborative work and data sharing that may contribute to the Knowledge Portal in the future.
